meeting of the Dighton Water District Commissioners was held at the District
office at 3:08 P.M. Chairman of
the Board, Paul Pacheco called the meeting to order. A motion was made and seconded to go
into executive session. In
attendance at the executive session; Paul Pacheco, Sue Medeiros, and Edward
Swartz. Meeting
was called back into regular session. A discussion was held on the
lack of a District Accountant, someone that’s on two days a month or
whatever, they do the Accounting services for the District, close books end
of the month not just at the end of the year, the end of every month, guys
out there to do it probably $750.00 to $1,000.00 a month. A question was asked, “Is
it a special employee, or a contracted service?” A decision was made to start it in motion to find out, not to say who
it’s going to be or what it’s going to be yet but just how to
establish a District Accountant , they are to be responsible for closing the
books, coming to monthly meeting as the accountant providing us with all the
accounting information needed. That person is to be responsible for doing all
those lines, all the preparation on the budget, the accountant actually would
do more than close the books for $9,500.
A decision was made to interview as many people as necessary and not
to take the first person that comes along. A decision to find out how to
set up accounting services was made. A
decision was made to have Carol Stevens cc all the Board with Correspondence
coming from David Gay. A
discussion was held on selling the old office and putting an addition and a
garage at the Treatment Facility so everyone and everything would be in one
location. A decision was made to
gather more information. Discussion
was held on the sign. Invoices
for Lopes, gasoline, and insurance were signed. Bonus checks were placed on hold. Edward
Swartz said, “I make a motion to adjourn.” Sue Medeiros said,
“Second.”
